Powerbank for iPad
POWERBANK FOR IPAD: WHAT SHOULD YOU PAY ATTENTION TO?
A powerbank for iPad is the solution when you're on the go, don't have a power outlet nearby, or just want extra freedom. iPads have a larger battery than smartphones, so you need a powerbank with enough capacity. Think of at least 12,000 mAh or more. With that, you can charge your iPad at least once completely.
Handy: all powerbanks from Fresh 'n Rebel are equipped with smart protection, fast charging, and USB-C or Lightning support. This way you can be sure that your iPad has power again safely and quickly. Even the compact models are perfect as a daily backup for emergencies.

Choose a powerbank with sufficient capacity (mAh)
An iPad or tablet consumes significantly more power than a smartphone. That's why you need a powerful and suitable powerbank when you're on the go, working, or traveling. Tablets have larger batteries than phones. An average iPad has a battery capacity of 8,000 to 11,000 mAh. If you want to fully charge your iPad once, then you need a powerbank of at least 10,000 mAh. If you want to charge multiple times or also bring your phone? Then go for 20,000 mAh or more.
iPad model | Battery capacity (average) | Recommended powerbank |
---|---|---|
iPad (9th/10th gen) | ±8,500 mAh | ≥ 10,000 mAh |
iPad Air / Pro 11" | ±9,700–10,800 mAh | ≥ 15,000 mAh |
iPad Pro 12.9" | ±10,800–11,700 mAh | ≥ 20,000 mAh |
Pay attention to the right power (Watt / Wattage)
iPads often support fast charging via USB-C with at least 20W. If you use a powerbank with a lower output (e.g. 10W or 12W), charging will take unnecessarily long. So look for a powerbank with:
- USB-C Power Delivery (PD)
- At least 20W output via USB-C
- Preferably multiple outputs if you also want to charge other devices
Example: The iPad Pro even supports charging with 30W. If you have a powerbank that can handle that, your tablet will be recharged in about 2 hours.
Pay attention to the type of connections (USB-C is key)
The latest iPads (from iPad Pro 2018, iPad Air 2020, and iPad 10th gen) use USB-C instead of Lightning. Therefore, choose a powerbank with at least:
- USB-C output with Power Delivery
- Fast USB-A port for other devices (optional)
If you use an older iPad with a Lightning connector, you can still use a USB-C powerbank with a USB-C to Lightning cable.
Look at the size and weight
Powerbanks with high capacity (20,000+ mAh) are heavier and larger. For travel or on the go, it's useful to balance size against your charging needs:
- 10,000 mAh → Compact, fits in your bag, handy for 1 iPad charge
- 20,000+ mAh → Larger, but suitable for 1–2 tablet charges + smartphone
Note for travelers: airlines usually allow a maximum of 27,000 mAh (100Wh) in hand luggage.
